New for Fall term 2022

Faculty Media Center (FMC) and Student Multimedia Services (SMS) have united to become Media Hub,
a unit within University Information and Technology (UIT).

Media Hub is an all inclusive multimedia resource for OSU students, faculty and staff, and is a dedicated “one stop shop” for your academic digital content creation needs. In this article, we’ll walk you through the major changes, what’s happening, and why.

What Is Changing?

Day to day there won’t be too many changes to the services you know and love. Media Hub will be picking up right where our former units left off, and our institutional knowledge is coming with us into this new age.

All service requests and drop-in visits go directly to the new Media Hub main desk, (formerly SMS) located in suite 2035 on the main floor of the Valley Library.

For those still wanting to use the former FMC media studios inside of Kidder -No worries!

Requests to use the studio spaces can still be made here. Additionally, Media Hub will allow faculty to access previously student-exclusive spaces, and graduate students could access previously faculty-exclusive spaces.

Win-Win!

So if you are looking to create new content, stay tuned for new and improved studio spaces.

Why is this happening?

In an effort to reduce confusion and create more inclusive access to media support, UIT Academic Technologies sees new opportunities with the newly united Media Hub.
Faculty gained by expanding our hours and opening all of the spaces and resources to everyone, our goal is to make service points easier to access, equipment consultations faster and more efficient, and increase options for multimedia production support!
