2023 Media Services & Technical Services Commencement Broadcast

As we head into the new year, Media Services and Technical Services are focused on the goal of celebrating students’ achievements and the completion of the current stage of their academic journey; Commencement. While still six months away, a large amount of work is required to create our annual celebration of student (and faculty!) success. Planning and preparation is underway to create stories highlighting student achievement in each college, as well as other messages that will be part of the day’s grand production in Reser Stadium.
Creating a plan to capture, display, and broadcast the day’s activities and highlights requires an understanding of the many technical pitfalls that can affect any live production, especially when the venue itself is still under construction. In 2021, without an in-person commencement ceremony, Media Services created a “virtual” celebration for the Classes of 2021 and 2020, some elements of which found their way into the live production for the Class of 2022’s ceremony. Media Services and Technical Services, including earlier incarnations of these groups, have been a part of the Commencement Committee, for over forty years – a role that is an honor to serve in support of the results of the teaching mission of Oregon State University.
